Laser Surgery

The use of laser for surgery can dramatically reduce patient pain, bleeding, and surgery time. Unfortunately, the process that decreases the bleeding can increase the time it takes to heal completely. For this reason, laser is not ideal for all surgical procedures or sites (locations on the body). Dog neuters and cat declaws are excellent procedures for laser, while removal of foreign bodies from intestines is not. Special training and equipment are necessary to use the laser and to protect the patient and surgical staff from eye injury and fire during the surgery. For this reason, it may be more expensive to perform a surgery with the laser.
